So many of us worry about what others will think if we do something silly or something that puts us out there. Frankly, for me, normal is boring. I remember walking home from school on a bright sunny day. I was happy and singing and skipping along the sidewalk. Suddenly I realized that an adult was frowning at me from their window as I went past their house. I was suddenly struck with fear of being watched and stopped my skipping and singing. I quickly walked home and decided that I shouldn't do that ever again. It wasn't until I started to take Drama classes in high school that I truly started to take risks and allow myself to be silly, and be that little girl skipping down the sidewalk. It is scary being vulnerable, but it can also be amazing !! You never know, there maybe someone who is sitting back, wanting to join in, but too scared to take a chance. Let them follow your example. We all admire those among us who do take risks, who open themselves up and who create. Creativity needs to come from deep inside of us, and we need to be willing to be vulnerable and embrace that part of ourselves. So here is my challenge to you. Do something that the child in you would do. Sing to the music in the grocery store, have a dance party at work, engage a stranger in a conversation, be vulnerable, take a risk.
So what if my family and friends think I'm crazy.....crazy can go a long way some days.
